Born in Lyon, France, Agoria (real name Sébastien Devaud) is a pioneering force in the world of electronic music and a visionary artist known for his genre-defying creations. His career, spanning over three decades, is a testament to his relentless pursuit of innovation, seamlessly blending the realms of music, art, and technology.

From an early age, Agoria was drawn to music’s transformative power. His passion led him to shape the French electronic scene, co-founding the Nuits Sonores festival, which has become one of Europe’s premier electronic music events. As a DJ and producer, Agoria has performed in some of the world’s most iconic venues, such as Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Pacha in Ibiza, and at prestigious festivals including Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Sonar.

Agoria’s discography is rich and varied, with critically acclaimed albums like The Green Armchair, Impermanence, Drift, and this year Unshadow. He has collaborated with a diverse array of artists like Nile Rodgers, Neneh Cherry, Tricky, Peter Murphy, Solomun or Black Coffee. His sound defies categorization, moving fluidly between house, techno, and electronica, often marked by a cinematic quality. This versatility has made him a sought-after composer for film, where his work has been celebrated, most notably his soundtrack for Go Fast produced by luc Besson.

As a DJ, Agoria has been recognized as one of the most prominent figures in the electronic music scene. His innovative approach and contributions have earned him accolades, including being voted among the best French DJs many times. 

His mix CD At the Controls was even named one of the best mix CDs of the past decade by Resident Advisor. This recognition highlights his influence in the electronic music community.

In 2016, Agoria launched Sapiens Records, a label dedicated to nurturing diverse musical talent and exploring intersections between generations.

Beyond music, Agoria is a trailblazer in the art and tech spheres, exploring the boundaries of generative art and immersive installations. His work with art institutions and collaborations with architects, scientists, and digital artists have produced groundbreaking projects that fuse biology, algorithms, and visual storytelling. This interdisciplinary approach reflects Agoria’s deep curiosity about the world and his commitment to pushing artistic limits.

Agoria is the first digitat artist ever to exhibit his art in one of the TOP 10 Museum in the world. In February 2024, he was invited to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris to present his unique perspective on the museum’s architecture and masterpieces. This collaboration resulted in the exhibition titled “AGORIA {Le Code d’Orsay},” which ran from February 13 to March 10, 2024. The exhibition featured two original digital artworks inspired by the museum’s collections, developed on the Tezos blockchain. 

Today, Agoria continues to innovate and inspire. He remains incredibly relevant and contemporary, as confirmed by his feature on the cover of DJ Mag this month, which highlights his constant innovation in the world of electronic music.He is currently working on a brand of clothing that merges his love for art, fashion, and generative biology, underscoring his belief in the harmony between creativity and technology. Agoria’s career is a vivid expression of his philosophy: art should move us, challenge us, and illuminate the invisible connections that shape our lives.
